“Yancey Unmasks Disparities in Boston”

Attorney Murphy applauds Boston City Councillor Charles C. Yancey’s continued efforts for equality in the workplace.  Interestingly, Councillor Yancey takes aim at racial disparities in Boston city departments in terms of number of employees and salaries earned.  Particularly, Attorney Murphy is interested in Yancey’s investigation to “determine the existence of the disparities, and whether or not certain policies, practices, or structures are placing Boston’s non-white racial and ethnic groups at a disadvantage in relation to White employees in the City of Boston.”

Indeed, Attorney Murphy notes that disparate employment policies, practices, or structures continue to be pervasive in lawsuits he has brought on behalf of his clients whom have been wronged in the workplace.  Thus, Attorney Murphy’s clients should be encouraged that Councillor Yancey is asking the right questions to protect Boston city employees’ civil rights in the workplace.  See South End News Article, Yancey Unmasks Disparities in Boston, September 6, 2012.
